NOTD: Revlon Royal aka How Can Something Be This Blue??

Fitzy here! I have another nail of the day to share.

Revlon Royal. Wow. This is blue. Really blue! Bright blue jelly. I love it.

I've been meaning to swatch this one for a while, but I had heard that the formula for this was not so good, so I was kind of putting it off. I was actually pleasantly surprised! It went on in two smooth and even coats without a lot of streaking. It was like painting my nails with ink. Awesome. This is definitely a new favorite.

In addition to taking more nail pictures, I'm also trying to remember to wrap/cap my tips when I do a manicure. Up until now my nails have never been long enough to do something like that, so this is new to me! But it seems to work well. I'm getting better wear out of my polish now that I wrap my tips.

Anyway, I'm off to go have some lunch. I'm thinking ramen, or perhaps some veggie bacon and eggs. Awww yeah, livin' the college life. ;)

NOTD: Revlon Rainforest

Hey y'all! I'm trying to get into the habit of taking pictures of my nails when I paint them, so I can get better at photographing my nails, and also so I have pictures to reference when I need them.

So today I have Revlon Rainforest on my nails (for now):

It's one of my boyfriend's favorites, and with good reason. From what I can tell, it's a warm-toned blackened green jelly with a green glass fleck. Really nice. And I love the brushes on these Revlon Colorstay polishes.

I'm already ready to take this off and re-do my nails, so I might have more pictures later. :P

OPI The Amazing Spider-Man collection (minis!)

Hey y'all! Sorry it's taken me so long to post anything. My sleep schedule has been way screwy lately and I just haven't had much time to get things done. But I finally have something today! :D

The Amazing Spider-Man collection by OPI
I've seen a few posts about this collection, and when my boyfriend and I saw the box with four mini bottles at ULTA I found it hard to resist!

I'll be honest... I really like Spider-man. He's gotta be one of my favorite super-heroes, and when I saw that a new movie was in the works (and starring Andrew Garfield! Swoon!), I was pretty excited. So, when I heard about this collection I had pretty high hopes!

"baby" bottles!
Aww, aren't they just precious... The box set came with Into the Night, Your Web or Mine?, Just Spotted the Lizard!, and Number One Nemesis. I've heard that both JStL and NON are Chanel dupes, but I only have evidence for one of them! I own Graphite, but not Peridot, so I'll show the comparison after the swatches.

First up is Into the Night:

For a polish called "Into the Night," this color was disappointingly sheer. The bottle color is a deep shimmering blue-violet (more violet than the picture I have), and I was expecting something dark and opaque. It took five (!!!) coats to achieve the amount of opacity you see, and my nails still weren't totally covered!

I knew something had to be done, so I tried it over Sally Hansen Black Out:

One coat over black. This is how it's supposed to look, darn it! It actually matched the bottle color.

Here's Your Web or Mine?:

Frosty coral-y pink. I'm not a fan. I don't really have anything against pink, but this is not something I would wear again. Formula was nice though. Three coats.

Next is Just Spotted the Lizard!:

From what I've seen, this is an exact Chanel Peridot dupe. Of course, I personally have no proof. :P I do happen to have a bottle of Gap Gold Rush (another Peridot dupe), and they look exactly the same to me, so it doesn't look like I'll be buying Peridot any time soon! This is three thin coats. Formula was nice, but I actually think the Gap dupe is better.

Finally, this is Number One Nemesis:

Super pretty! OPI describes it as "sparkling nickel," and I agree. Sparkling yet smooth, and the formula was great. This went on in three coats.

Now for the Graphite comparison:

Left to right: Chanel, OPI, Chanel, OPI

There is definitely a difference! While OPI is shimmery, Chanel is even more shimmery. Graphite is much more complex and radiant; Number One Nemesis just looks too smooth and a bit dull next to Graphite. OPI definitely comes close, though! I'd say if you didn't want to dish out 25 bucks, go for the OPI. It really is a lovely polish.

Just to highlight the difference, here's a picture with flash:

Alrighty, I think that's all for now! Thanks for reading. :)

I'm a male nail blogger! (Milani Fresh Teal swatch)

Hello! Fitzy here! :D I have a little post for you today.
Okay, so the whole reason I started this blog was so that I can start sharing my ideas/thoughts about nail polish, along with swatches and pictures of new colors I acquire, or nail art and stuffs. I really love the nail polish blogging community, even though I've only been reading some blogs for a fairly short time. (I only discovered Scrangie a few months ago :P) But I'm eager to start doing more than just reading; I'd like to share some things as well.

I'd like to think I bring a unique perspective to this nail-blogging scene, seeing as I'm a 19 year-old guy in Texas, who identifies as queer/gay and currently has a wonderful super amazing boyfriend, and enjoys fucking with gender. Yeah.

As far as nail polish tastes go, I really love bright colors and crazy looks, and occasionally I go on a wild glitter kick and I just NEED to cover my nails with glitter. Sometimes I can't STAND shimmer and I want nothing more than a nice smooth creme, but then sometimes I just have a hankering for some sparkle! I'm a little all over the place I suppose!

Today I have something for you that's a little old, but this polish is one of my favorites. It's Fresh Teal from the Milani Neon collection. I added little stickers on my thumbs because why the hell not?? I should also mention that these pictures are FAR from color accurate! :( These pictures make Fresh Teal look like a dusty blue teal, when it is really much more vivid and green in real life! It's more neon of course! haha

I'd show you my other thumb, but it really does not look as good! Trust me! It's a disaster.

Here are a couple pics with the bottle, just because I know I'm not the only one frustrated by these damn opaque bottles. :P

You can see the tiniest bit of VNL here, which I am okay with. The color is so smooth and lovely that for me it makes up for it. Also, I've seen some other bloggers say that this collection dries matte or semi-matte, like most neons. ...I find that to not be true at all! This color is quite glossy, and so are the other two colors I have from this collection.

I felt compelled to swipe a bit of polish onto the outside of the bottle, just to keep it real. ;)

Anyway, that's all for right now! I already feel like doing my nails again, so we'll see if I have a post to share later.
